THE CHALLENGE – THE PIPELINE LOSSES OML 24

OML 24, like its counterparts using pipeline to deliver their production into Bonny Terminal, is currently facing theft of crude oil from the pipelines, which has grown to become more sophisticated, This has lead to loss of over 50% of production by Newcross and co-producers along the pipelines.

THE SOLUTION – ALTERNATIVE CRUDE EVACUATION PROJECT

DSL, operating as a consortium, worked with Newcross and JV Partner on OML 24, to develop and implement Alternative Crude Evacuation (ACE project which requires Marine barges to transport hydrocarbon from the producing field to a Mother Tanker at a location in Bonny, where STS transfers can take place safely and securely, and the mother tanker injects the crude oil into Bonny Terminal through Single Point Mooring system.

THE ECONOMIC POTENTIAL

DSL, operating as a consortium, process and evacuate about 1 million barrels of Crude oil monthly from the field to the export terminal, over the next two years.

MARINE ASSET REQUIREMENTS

The project relies on barges and tankers for its operation,. Currently has one LR 2 – Tanker, 2- MR Tankers and host of barges in its fleet of equipment.

FUTURE OUTLOOK

DSL is poised to establish herself as a first grade Alternative Evacuation Service provider to industry practitioners, by investing in infrastructures to support the operation at strategic locations in the oil and gas hub.
